Mobius Strip is an album where the veena, a traditional South Indian instrument believed to be over 2,000 years old, expresses itself in a variety of modern genres such as dance,funk, house and pop. All tunes are original, composed by Suchitra, who also plays the veena.She has composed each track specially for this album. On each of the 13 tracks, the arrangement strives for a different colour and texture through the use of live drums, harmonium, voices, in addition to the veena.While the veena remains true to the grace-oriented classical style, it reaches out and involves other genres to create new tapestries of sound. |
